Global demersal fish protein supply

Flora & FaunaAgriculture

This quantity comes from a time series measurement and the most recent value (2018) is reported.

Value: 0.8 g / capita / day
HuID: 99796
Relevant Year(s): 2018
Summary: Global average daily protein supply from demersal fish meat per capita. Demersal fish live at or near the bottom of the ocean, including halibut, sole, and turbot. This represents the average amount of protein from demersal fish available for human consumption and does not necessarily represent how much is consumed or how much is available in a given country/region.
Method: The FAO collects data from countries on production of demersal fish. The amount available for human consumption is calculated after accounting for other uses and losses. Protein content is calculated from the average composition of demersal fish meat. The FAO does not provide an assessment of uncertainty and this value should be considered approximate.
