Global calorie supply

Flora & FaunaAgriculture

This quantity comes from a time series measurement and the most recent value (2018) is reported.

Value: 2927 kcal / capita / day
HuID: 87877
Relevant Year(s): 2018
Summary: Global daily calorie supply per person. This data is reported by the FAO based on the amount of food produced and calculating how much of that is available for human consumption. This is a global average and not necessarily representative of individual countries/ regions.
Method: The FAO collects data from countries on production of various food types. The use of the food is divided into categories (livestock feed, use as seeds, used for manufacturing, losses) to determine the amount available for human consumption. This is then divided by the population to determine per capita supply.
