Global calorie supply from beef

Flora & FaunaAgriculture

This quantity comes from a time series measurement and the most recent value (2018) is reported.

Value: 39 kcal / capita / day
HuID: 79776
Relevant Year(s): 2018
Summary: Global daily calorie supply from beef (bovine meat) per person. This data is reported by the FAO based on the amount of food produced and calculating how much of that is available for human consumption after accounting for other uses and losses. This is a global average and not necessarily representative of individual countries/ regions.
Method: The FAO collects data from countries on production of beef. The use of the food is divided into categories (livestock feed, use as seeds, used for manufacturing, losses) to determine the amount available for human consumption. This is then divided by the population to determine per capita supply. The FAO does not report an assessment of uncertainty and this value should be considered approximate.
