Summary: Phosphate rock is the main source of phosphorus used in fertilizers. Phosphorus is one of the key plant nutrients found in most fertilizers, together with nitrogen and potassium. Phosphate ore is extracted and processed into phosphate rock concentrates, grading from 15% to 41% P2O5 .
Method: Global estimates without uncertainty are reported yearly by the International Fertilizer Association.
