Flora & FaunaAgricultureThis quantity comes from a time series measurement and the most recent value (2018) is reported.
Value: | 1307 kcal / capita / day
HuID: | 54003 | |
Relevant Year(s): | 2018
Summary: | Global daily calorie supply from cereals per person. This data is reported by the FAO based on the amount of food produced and calculating how much of that is available for human consumption after accounting for other uses and losses. This is a global average and not necessarily representative of individual countries/ regions.
Method: | The FAO collects data from countries on production of cereals. The use of the food is divided into categories (livestock feed, use as seeds, used for manufacturing, losses) to determine the amount available for human consumption. This is then divided by the population to determine per capita supply. The FAO does not report an assessment of uncertainty and this value should be considered approximate.
