Net natural CO2 sink

Atmospheric & Biogeochemical CyclesCarbon Dioxide

This quantity comes from a time series measurement and the most recent value (2018) is reported.

Value:

This is equivalent to...

(6.1 ± 1.0) × 1012 kg C / yr

(22 ± 4) Pg CO2 / yr

(6.1 ± 1.0) Pg C / yr

HuID: 52670
Relevant Year(s): 2018
Summary: The net natural sink of carbon dioxide (CO2) is computed as the sum of the ocean and land natural sinks. The value reported is for 2018.
Method: The uncertainty value represents one standard deviation. It is obtained from the uncertainty of the land CO2 sink and the oceanic CO2 uptake, assuming uncorrelated errors as in the original publication.
