Summary: Global average daily protein supply per capita. This represents the average amount of protein available for human consumption and does not necessarily represent how much is consumed or how much is available in a given country/region.
Method: The FAO collects data from countries on production of food. Use is divided by category (livestock feed, manufacturing, seeds, losses, human consumption). Protein content is calculated from the composition of the various food items. The FAO does not provide an assessment of uncertainty and this value should be considered approximate.
