Global calorie supply from animal products

Flora & FaunaAgriculture

This quantity comes from a time series measurement and the most recent value (2018) is reported.

Value: 525 kcal / capita / day
HuID: 10664
Relevant Year(s): 2018
Summary: Global daily calorie supply from animal products per person. This includes all animal products, including terrestrial and aquatic animals. This data is reported by the FAO based on the amount of animal products produced and calculating how much of that is available for human consumption after accounting for other uses and losses. This is a global average and not necessarily representative of individual countries/ regions.
Method: The FAO collects data from countries on production of animal products. The amount available for human consumption is calculated after accounting for other uses and losses. This is then divided by the population to determine per capita supply. The FAO does not report an assessment of uncertainty and this value should be considered approximate.
